The Student Directory of La Sierra University, called Perspectives is an annual publication of the school that contains the current students and information about themselves.
For the 2008-2009 school year I was the Editor-In-Chief / Art Director of the publication. Responsibilities of the post included coordinating photography of the students & data input as well as editorial design.
I want to show you a little bit about the progression of this project.
It started out with picking a format for the book. Ultimately we chose to go with a landscape book, to break the mold.
We also had to choose the student information that we wanted present.
Early in the process we established a flat plan, finalizing where different sections would be in the book.
We wanted to stay away from the "mugshot" pages of a traditional looking yearbook.
Using test shots we started the actual layout process.
We settled on using three students per page, overlaying the information on top.
This is the first mock up using actual production photographs.
Once the design was settled on we repeated the process several hundred times.
